Have you ever been frustrated by giving your film tickets away because another arrangement has come up, and you can't get a refund? Well, thankfully that's about to change.
According to The Paper, China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association released a notice earlier this week, urging all film ticketing platforms to support the option of refunding and rescheduling tickets as soon as possible.
In the note, the Association states that providing moviegoers with a ticket refund or reschedule is mutually beneficial to the public and the Chinese film market. Therefore, both cinemas and online ticketing platforms have a responsibility to develop a detailed regulation regarding the process of refunding and rescheduling. And, ticket buyers have the right to be aware of the policies before they make a purchase.

Currently, over 90 percent of film tickets are booked via online platforms, reports NetEase. That being said, the rules around refunding and rescheduling are varied across the country. For instance, some cinemas and platforms list the services as privileges exclusive to members. To general customers, these services are unavailable.
Without a doubt, the new regulation is welcomed by the majority of the netizens, since it stops tickets from being wasted. In addition, if a film receives negative reviews, they can prevent themselves from spending two hours in vain watching it. At the same time, some netizens pointed out that the opening of refunding and rescheduling may lead to more fabrication of the box office statistics.
For now, the new regulation has yet to go into full effect. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the experience of enjoying a good flick will be elevated in the foreseeable future.
