The second annual Shanghai International Half Marathon is coming to the city on April 17. Registration opens tomorrow and will close on Monday, March 21, so make sure to sign up for a spot while you can.
There will be two races: the Half Marathon (21km) and the Women’s 8 Mile Race (12.9km). The entry fee for both races is RMB160 and RMB100, respectively. There will be 8,500 spots for the Half Marathon and 3,500 for the Women's Race, with a lottery system being put in place. Participants will learn whether they made the cut on Tuesday, March 22. The final deadline for payment falls on Friday, March 25, and you'll be able to pay through Paypal or Alipay.
The race itself will kick off at 6 am, with both courses taking runners through Pudong. For those of you who can’t quite face the full marathon in November, or for those who didn’t get a spot in the lottery, this race — along with the Jinqiao 8K the week before — may be the perfect opportunity to break those new running shoes in.
