In the past two weeks, two more cities joined hands with Shanghai in terms of public transportation. As a result, you can now use Shanghai's Metro App in Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province and Hefei in Anhui Province, reports Shine.
On April 15, Wenzhou became the first city to develop a partnership with Shanghai Shentong Metro Group after Hangzhou and Ningbo. Residents of Shanghai and Wenzhou can now travel in both cities easily and effortlessly with only one metro app. On Monday, Hefei – the provincial capital of Anhui Province – granted its citizens the same convenience as well.

As we've reported before, the cooperation is under the guidance of a national strategy calling for the integral development of the Yangtze River Delta (Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui). It not only saves civilians the hassle of installing multiple metro apps but also promotes tourism throughout the region.
Based on the statistics, over 18.5 million people have downloaded Shanghai's Metro Daduhui App, 250,000 of which have actually used the service. It is expected that by the end of May, the Metro QR codes of all five cities (Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou and Hefei) will be interconnected, which is sure to attract more users.

Suffice it to say, the new system has set a good example for the rest of the cities located within the Yangtze River Delta. It has been confirmed that five more cities will follow suit by the end of this year.
