Watching a fireworks show at Shanghai Disney is a lifelong dream for many people. Apparently, the show is so irresistible even a fugitive couldn’t resist the temptation.
According to NetEase, police spotted a suspicious man at the exit of the Disney Resort station of Metro Line 11 last week. After a thorough investigation, they verified that the man was, in fact, a fugitive.
It turns out the man, surnamed Zhang, had been a stock analyst at a financial firm in Shanghai for the past six years. During that time, he allegedly stole over RMB100,000 (USD14,680) from his clients.
In April, Zhang’s actions were exposed and he was listed as a fleeing convict on the Internet.
Zhang has now been transferred to a police station in Gansu Province.
Zhang confessed that he planned to go to Shanghai Disney that afternoon to watch the fireworks show, which usually starts at 8.30pm. He was captured before he even made it to the gate of the Disney Resort.
