A tragedy unfolded in Chongqing this morning, when a 39-year-old woman entered a kindergarten in Banan District and began attacking people with a knife.
According to a Chongqing police press release, 14 children were injured in the incident, which occurred at around 9.30am at New Century Kindergarten. The students were reportedly on their way back to class after finishing their morning exercises when the knife-wielding woman attacked them.
All of the injured youths were brought to a local hospital, four of whom were then transferred to the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University due to the seriousness of their injuries, according to Chongqing Radio and Television.
No deaths have been reported as of press time and police have arrested a suspect, surnamed Liu, for the attack.

In footage posted to Sina Video’s Weibo account, children covered in bandages are rushed out the front gate of the school. One child is being transported on a hospital gurney.
You can also see a crowd of angry spectators surrounding the woman as she is subdued by police.
Authorities are investigating today’s tragic events and are working to determine a motive for Liu’s senseless actions.
While it is unclear what punishment she will receive for her actions, it’s fair to speculate that it will be severe. Just last month, 28-year-old Zhao Zewei was executed in Shaanxi province for a mass murder at a middle school. Zhao stabbed nine students to death and four other pupils suffered serious injuries in the attack, which happened earlier this year.
