When you look at this graveyard of shared bikes, what do you think? That it doesn’t look like a pile of bikes, that it could almost be an abstract piece of art, or some very loose knitting? Maybe that now you know it’s all bikes, you’re thinking what a disgraceful waste it is to abandon them, whether collectively like this or just here and there on the street? If only someone could find something useful to do with them….
Well, someone has! Sort of. An as yet un-named genius has decided against recycling or reincarnating these bikes into a something sustainable, and has instead upcycled them into a children’s’ playground. Yes, you heard correctly.
That is the country's first Mobike theme park. Located in Putuo district, it is built with 1,000 abandoned Mobikes. Recycled, sterilized, this park has become children's playground and is of free entrance to the public.
It remains a mystery why decorating a slide with the wheels of a bicycle makes for a better playground, or why the pedals of the bikes make better steps than actual steps, but maybe we shouldn’t look into this too deeply. Perhaps we should just be pleased that the bikes have been given a new lease of life.
