Last week, we reported on the exciting news that pets are allowed to enter Raffles City Changning. However just two days ago, RCC suddenly revoked the regulation without further notice.
We went to the RCC only to find out that the “pets allowed” sign was not there anymore. According to a staff member working at RCC who refused to give his name, the service was called off due to “pressure from all sides”.
“There were just too many people against the regulation due to the safety and health concerns," he told Urban Family. "More than that, related government departments also demanded that pets not be allowed in the mall as they could pose as a threat to both pregnant women, senior citizens and kids.”
The sign is gone
According to the Shanghai Administrative Regulations on Raising Pets, bringing pets to public places such as schools, hospitals, libraries and shopping malls can lead to fines of up to RMB200.
"Seems the dog can’t have its day anymore," said one dog owner in disappointment.
