Urban Family has just received a report that three incidents have occurred near two international schools over the past two weeks involving students and a parent being stopped by a stranger and asked to get into a car. Fortunately, all students went straight home and reported the incident to their parents and school, and the parent that was approached was able to get a photo of the vehicle on her cell phone. All three cases are now in the hands of the authorities.
While Shanghai is generally a safe city for children to live and these types of incidents are uncommon, it is important to remind your child about "Stranger Danger" and teach them how to avoid dangerous situations and know how to react if they are approached by a stranger.
Security guards at neighboring local schools have been fully briefed about the incidents and will remain on high alert for the safety of students.
Update: The driver of the vehicle in question has been identified as an illegal taxi driver looking for business.
