In the midst of the Sunland Project in the Waigaoqiao area of Pudong, Harrow International School has taken shape over the last eighteen months. The school is now virtually complete, with the furniture and educational resources being moved in, and prospective parents are now visiting the campus. They have been very impressed with what they have seen. Head Master Mr. David Cook told us that the most common remark he has heard is, “I wish I could go back to school again. It wasn’t like this in my day.”
The first thing you notice is how the campus embraces separate designated areas for the Senior, Prep, Pre-Prep and Early Years sections of the school. There are then the extensive outdoor and indoor facilities and play areas, which enable the Harrow students to continue their timetabled activities whatever conditions are outside. These include the Sports Centre/Auditorium, the music and performing arts centres, dance studio, football and rugby pitches, indoor 25m swimming pool, sound-proof lecture theatre and so on. There are even abundant gardens for the students to relax in.
The Sunland Project, of which the school is an integral part, is also an area where 70% of the land is allocated to green sites, with an emphasis on quality of life. This gives us access, for instance, to an Equestrian Centre, hiking and nature trails and the nearby lake for watersports. Welcome to Harrow, for quality in both education and living.
