Pink-out in support of Breast Cancer Awareness
Concordia International School Shanghai invites you to get your pink on in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The school is teaming up with More Than Aware— a local non-profit organization promoting clean and green living— to hold a Pink-out at the opening assembly of the APAC Volleyball Championship. During the event the entire student body will wear pink T-shirts to show support for local cancer survivors who will be honored at the assembly. Concordia will also conduct a wellness week from October 19-23, which will be full of health-promoting activities designed to encourage healthy lifestyle choices among the students. Assembly starts at 8:15 a.m. in Concordia’s Phoenix center gym and is open to the public.

Festival of Education
Wellington College International Shanghai Education Festival will bring together experts in education from the UK, China and the rest of the world. For the best part of a week, though with a specific focus on Friday 23rd October and Saturday 24th October, the festival participants will present a variety of talks, lead workshops, and take part in panel discussions that will stimulate thinking about education. In addition, films will be shown, debate encouraged, and involvement invited. There will be three broad strands (or areas) of inquiry Innovation, Explorations, and International Perspectives. The festival is open to anyone interested in education and the process of learning, whether they are educators, parents or students. Although the festival has its roots in the celebrated event held annually at Wellington in the UK, this is the first event of its kind in China.

Australian Ballet
The Australian Ballet has enjoyed a special relationship with China as one of the first foreign performers to visit with their 1980 tour. They're making their first trip in nine years and are doing it in style, bringing their hit 2013 show Cinderella for its international premiere. Choreographed by the Bolshoi Ballet's former Artistic Director Alexei Ratmansy, Cinderella takes place in post-war Russia, circa 1945. It's one of the hottest tickets in Australia and the Shanghai Grand Theatre shows will serve as a test run for a potential international tour next year. Dragon Burn
Head out of the city into Anji Forest for this participatory event based on the principles of Burning Man. Enjoy a weekend of camping, art, workshops, music, performances and fire. Tickets will not be sold at the gate or at the bus, so make sure to book ahead.

Shanghai Mamas Annual Family Day
Join in for a fun-filled family day, with creative and exciting games and activities for children and parents, great live music, amazing food, raffle prizes, and a chance to connect with more than a thousand friends. There will be a wide variety of food from local community vendors with options for the whole family. Come dressed as your favorite animal and enter our costume contest to win great prizes! The family day party is the annual fundraising event for Shanghai Mamas. In addition to a fantastic day for the entire family, by attending, you will also be supporting this vibrant community and helping to sustain the organization for another year!
