Unfortunately, we all seem to be feeling the cold front that arrived today, bringing cooler air and rainfall to the city. As a result, Shanghai may have entered the rainy season, reports NetEase.
On Wednesday morning, Shanghai residents awoke to rain, and high moisture levels left the city covered in fog. Fengxian district felt the most fog with a precipitation level reaching 19.8 millimeters.
Today, the rainfall continues, and the temperature will drop down dramatically. According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, Shanghai will reach a high of 13 degrees Celsius (55.4 degrees Fahrenheit) and a low of merely 8 degrees Celsius (46.4 degrees Fahrenheit).
Fortunately, as we bid farewell with the cold front this Sunday, the temperature will gradually rise again. According to the Weather Channel, the highest temperature will hover around 18 degrees Celsius (64.4 degrees Fahrenheit) for the next week. That being said, the rainy days won't completely leave us. After a precious sunny day on Friday, showers will make a comeback this Saturday and next Friday. Here's a glimpse of the weather forecast for the upcoming days:

Yesterday also marks Lidong, a meteorological term from the Chinese lunar calendar. Translated to 'start of winter,' the term is used to indicate the beginning of the winter season in northern China.
Of course, it seems still early to predict the season here in Shanghai, as the city usually welcomes winter in early December. Nonetheless, as cold fronts sweep the city more often in the future, we might need to start preparing now.
