Smurf fans, this one is for you. A Metro ride will now present your favorite shade of blue, as you travel in the company of these beloved creatures. That's right, on October 20, Shanghai Metro Line 2 launched a Smurfs-themed train, reports NetEase.
Fan-favorite characters including Smurfette, Papa Smurf and Brainy Smurf (sorry, Gargamel fans, maybe next time) from the world-renowned franchise have made their way to the exterior of selected trains. These cute creatures not only give the trains a new look but also bring back commuters' memories of this classic cartoon.

In addition to our childhood characters, the trains also provide information regarding the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). It turns out that these Smurf trains are part of the CIIE promotion. Gathering manufacturers from around the globe (and granting extra holidays for Shanghai civilians), the expo will run from November 5 to 10. The location for the exposition is the National Convention and Exhibition Center, the termination point for Line 2.

The Smurf train is designed by both Shanghai Lingang Group and Zeebrugge Port Bureau from Belgium. "The Port of Zeebrugge has built business partnerships with several ports of China," introduces Zhu Weiqaing, vice president of Shanghai Lingang Group. "The Smurfs Metro train is the most Belgium-style promotion. At the same time, it symbolizes the friendship and cooperation between the two countries."

The service of the CIIE Smurf train is set to conclude on November 11. So, take the opportunity when you can to see your favorite characters before the promotion ends.
