The seven-day National Day holiday is just around the corner, so it's time to take note of road and metro exit closures. While a significant number of residents are looking forward to traveling within China or abroad, others may opt to stay in Shanghai to avoid potential crowds. So, if you are one of them, here is our heads up on what to expect on the roads and around metro stations during the holiday.
In Puxi, the area enclosed by Dongmen Lu, Renmin Lu, Huaihai Dong Lu, Huaihai Zhong Lu, Chongqing Zhong Lu, Chengdu Bei Lu, Beijing Xi Lu, Xizang Bei Lu, Qufu Lu, Tiantong Lu and Changzhi Lu (except these roads) will be forbidden for motorists from 3.30pm to 11.30pm from September 30 to October 5.

Vehicles will also be prohibited during the same period in the Pudong area enclosed by Shibu Jie, Lujiazui Huan Lu and Baibu Jie, with these roads excluded.

Non-motorized vehicles such as bikes and e-bikes are forbidden from the area within Nan Suzhou Lu, Henan Zhong Lu, Renming Lu and Xinkaihe Lu.

In addition to road closures, the Nanjing Dong Lu station on Metro Line 2 and Line 10 will be closed from 3.30pm to 11.30 pm during October 1 to October 5. The train will not stop at the station.
According to the local police, the time and range of the closures may change in accordance with the circumstance of the holiday. Our advice; plan ahead, so you don't get stuck in the traffic congestion.
