While Gongqing Forest Park is renowned for its vast green space and rich botanical features, recently a group of ‘animals’ has stolen the show and drawn attention from residents and tourists alike.
According to Kankanews, the animals within the park are painted by experienced artists from the China Academy of Art and Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. This display is the park’s first attempt at the tree paintings; a concept that skillfully combines nature and art while creating a unique attraction for visitors at this urban oasis.
Using the camphorwood and plane trees as their canvas, the artists faced challenges while painting the bark. Along with the surfaces presenting a rough and uneven texture, the trees were not to be damaged during the process. The artists were however given ‘free rein’ to use their imaginations and creativity in bringing their animals to life. You can see the results in the images below:

By employing eco-friendly pigment which causes no harm to trees and visitors, the artists have not only a brought a new look to the park, but a new lease of life to the trees.
