Pet owners rejoice, thanks to Alipay, your life is about to get easier. We know nothing makes you happier than hanging out with your furry friend and enjoying a meal together, however finding a pet-friendly place to eat can sometimes prove a difficult endeavor.
Now, with the launch of a new Alipay function, this problem will be a thing of the past.
There are many restaurants around town that welcome pets, but owners don’t know where they are and how to find this information. Queue the new Alipay function, which gives pet-owners details on pet-friendly restaurants. Simply type the keywords “宠物友好商家” (Chinese for pet-friendly restaurants) into the Koubei section in Alipay.
Note: We tried typing the English words however it didn’t work.
So far, Alipay has included approximately 40 pet-friendly restaurants and this will continue to grow as more venues join. By checking each restaurant’s listing, users can also obtain detailed information such as whether the venue has outdoor space or specific pet items available.
Alipay has commented that since the function is the first of its kind in China, and there are no existing regulations around taking pets to restaurants, this function will remain exclusive to Shanghai for the time being.
So for now Shanghai says ‘thank you Alipay,’ we know our Urban Family community and their four-legged friends will enjoy many meals together around town!
