Building more innovative labs in local schools and improving scientific education for young students is becoming a key priority for Shanghai. In an effort to improve scientific curriculums, by 2020 the city aims to equip each local school with an innovative lab.
Pre-schoolers will also be expected to get some scientific enlightenment education while primary schools will include more science classes in their curriculum. Middle and high schools will also pay more attention to explorative study.
Schools will also be encouraged to take students on field trips to visiting museums, research institutes and universities to explore the world of science. This past year already saw headway on the program with the Shanghai Science and Technology Committee setting up 25 workstations in 13 universities, seven research institutes and a hospital to provide study and practice opportunities for students.
