Wellington College International Shanghai officially opened on August 25, with students and parents alike eager to see the new campus in full. The school is welcoming 300 students from across the city, aged between 2-15 years. Wellington has a fantastic reputation for its excellence in both teaching and learning at it's other locations, and its latest Shanghai campus aims to provide an environment in which students will thrive academically and personally.
Ex- England footballer Carlton Palmer will head-up a range of extra-curricular and sporting activities, along with a number of other highly trained coaches and teachers who will aide students in and out of the classroom.
Wellington staff were present to greet parents and students before showing them around the school’s facilities. David Cook, Founding Master, commented on how not too long ago they walked around in hard-hats, envisioning what the campus would look like. Mr Cook noted the determination of staff, students and parents in making the college a success and discussed his own vibrant experience within education, one that he hopes to inspire at Wellington.
The UK Head, Sir Anthony Seldon will visit Shanghai this month to see the results of his vision to bring Wellington’s education system to China. Wellington aims to be a success within it’s own campus community, as well as making a positive impression within the wider community of Shanghai.
