New Head Boy and Head Girl
Congratulations to James Hodge and Nelly Matar who have just gained the prestigious titles of Head Boy and Head Girl, at Dulwich College Shanghai.
James completed his IGCSE’s at DCS before moving on to the IB Diploma this year. He is a keen sportsman, representing both the College Rugby and Football Teams. James has a passion for history and would like to further his studies in the subject at Oxford, Leeds or Bath University.
Nelly recently joined the College, enjoys cross country running and spending time with her friends during her spare time. She is hoping to study Business Administration at King’s College, UCL or Copenhagen Business School.
We wish both students the best of luck in their new College positions and look forward to following their progress throughout the year.
Olympic Coach Billy Pye MBE Joins Dulwich College Shanghai
Dulwich College Shanghai are thrilled to announce that Paralympic coach Mr. Billy Pye is joining as the Head of Aquatics, in January 2016. Billy’s career started by working for 17 years in the mines of the Welsh Valleys before completing his teaching qualification: BA (Ed) in Primary Education and swim coach training.
Billy has a vast experience in swim coaching. His personal achievements include:
- BSCA Disability Coach of the Year Award: 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2013
- MBE in the Queens honours list 2009 for Services to Swimming
- UK Coaching Awards, High Performance Coach of the Year 2008
- Welsh Coach of the Year 2008 and 2012
Billy coached 15 swimmers to the last 4 Paralympic Games, including Ellie Simmonds, Elizabeth Johnson and David Roberts who achieved:
- 19 gold medals
- 12 silver medals
- 12 bronze medals
- 15 world records
Billy also placed 7 swimmers on the GB Team for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
