To enhance the overall travel experience and increase efficiency, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station has implemented a number of new services including facial recognition and temporary ID printers, reports Shine.
Next time you are at the station, you will notice one of the second level ticket offices has been upgraded into an integrated service center. Apart from the regular ticketing service, you can now manage luggage check-in, gain travel information and arrange foreign currency exchange. With various services rolled into one, the counter is set to provide a more diversified and convenient experience for travelers.

We all know the importance of having an ID card or passport when it comes to traveling in China, and now, for those who forget to bring these documents with them, temporary ID printers can assist. In total, there are seven self-service machines allocated throughout the station, which negate the need to return home and retrieve any ID documents.

With facial recognition becoming the latest trend regarding public transport in Shanghai, Hongqiao Railway Station has followed in the steps of Hongqiao Airport. With the introduction of facial recognition check-in, passengers can swiftly enter the train station upon arrival. In total, there are 66 machines installed within the station, and each can process 10 to 15 passengers per minute. Currently, the service is only available to Chinese ID card holders, so for the time being, other travelers must enter via the staffed check-in entrances.

The trend of restroom renovation has also come to Hongqiao Railway Station. The number of cubicles across the station has increased from 354 to 531, and a new LED screen at the entrance displays availability. Also, bio-deodorization technology has been installed to enhance the restroom environment.

Further improvements extend to the two information desks within the station. Thanks to the installation of translation machines, the language barrier has been removed. In addition, each desk now has an AED on standby for emergencies.
