The incredibly hot weather continues today, as Shanghai Meteorological Bureau has just released the first yellow alert for heat wave at 12.03am, as reported by the Paper.
The yellow alarm, the lowest in the three-tier alarm system (yellow, orange and red), suggests that within the next 24 hours the temperature will reach 35 degrees Celsius.
When the yellow alert is activated, citizens are advised to reduce outdoor activities. At the same time, children, the elderly along with those who need to work outdoors for extended duration are reminded to take precautions against the high temperature.
This warmer weather we are experiencing may be an indication of an early summer, as this year, the arrival of the first heat wave alert is much earlier than last year’s, July 5 date.
According to Weather Channel, the current heat wave will last until this Friday, May 18, and the temperatures is expected to take a downturn from Saturday.
