The holiday season is upon us, and that can mean many different things depending on who you ask. For some, it’s a magical time of strolling around the city with the family, admiring the decorations in the streets, shopping leisurely (because obviously you started buying presents six months ago) for the last Christmas gifts that will create memories your kids will never forget and catching up with friends and family over some mulled wine. For others, this time of the year (every year) has one word to describe it: Anxiety. When the number of presents bought the day before Christmas is zero, when you seem to be the only one who hasn’t spent every weekend of December baking Christmas treats with the kids, when you can’t even remember the number of all-nighters you’ve pulled to finish everything at work on time, then this time of year can be anything but magical.
Whether you’re filled with calm and the joyous feeling of Christmas or closer than ever to a panic attack, it is important to remember to take some time for yourself. Sit down, pour yourself a cup of coffee (the new issue of Urban Family will tell you why), read a magazine (you know which one!) and relax. We have lots of inspiration for fun (and relaxing) activities for both kids and adults for days off from work and school vacations. Go ice skating, take your kids to see a show, take yourself to the spa… And if you haven’t bought all your Christmas presents yet, the answer is on page 14!
