Tell us about yourself.
I am 17 years old. I am a student at Utahloy International School Guangzhou, and currently in Year 12 doing my International Baccalaureate Diploma course. I hope to go on to study in the US For my final DP Art project , I chose to handmake and present two pieces, both of which I hope will be well received by my audience .
Tell us about what you have created.
This piece (pictured left) is titled 'Life.' It is one of two pieces entitled 'Life and Death.'
It symbolizes the coming of springtime and the rebirth of nature in the month of spring. The shape of the dress is inspired by a cabbage and also by traditional Chinese clothing from Taoism, an ancient tradition of philosophy and religious belief that is deeply rooted in Chinese customs and worldview religion. My second piece is still a work in progress and will only be ready in December. I look forward to showing it off soon.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion design is a unique way to express ideas and imaginations. I love this field because I have always wanted to be a fashion designer ever since I was a kid, and I love to create dresses for my dollies. So this time I tried doing things that I have never done before, such as creating fashion pieces for humans. I am also very interested in animation, and would also love to study this in the future.
