Actors are now wanted for the live theatre performance of Robin Hood!
Beijing Playhouse, China's English Broadway Theatre is currently seeking 30 actors and singers for the production of a musical comedy rendition of Robin Hood.
Professional acting experience is great—but by no means necessary. The Playhouse is always up for discovering new talent. They encourage non-native English speaking actors as well. If you are a non-native English speaker, it is strongly suggested to bring a memorized 60 second language monologue in English.
Auditions:
Robin Hood will be holding auditions on Sunday, September 21st and Monday, September 22nd, in the British School of Beijing, Sanlitun campus at 6:30pm.
Call backs will be on Tuesday September 23 at 6:30pm at Olympic Theatre and possibly Wednesday September 24 at 6:30pm at BSB in Sanlitun.
Please arrive on time. Actors who do not arrive on time are much less likely to be cast in theatre productions.
Audition Format:
Monologues are optional and encouraged but also not necessary. You'll do a live reading from the script, perform scenes from the show with other actors and sing a song of your choosing. The choreographer will then teach you a simple dance.
Roles:
Currently there are 30 roles open:
- 6 boys, age 6-14
- 12 men, age 15-60
- 2 men, age 60-80
- 6 girls, age 6-14
- 12 women, age 15-60
- 2 women, age 60-80
Payment:
It’s completely free to participate in the play, all actors are volunteers.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals are five times per week in October and November. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm (occasionally at 10:00 pm) and Sunday afternoons from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
About the play:
Beijing Playhouse's production of the Christmas musical comedy Robin Hood (and his Holly Jolly Merry Men) will be playing through December 5th - 21st, 2014.
Weekday evenings at 7:30 pm.
Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 pm.
They will be performed in English with Chinese subtitles.
