In the afternoon of May 14th, CISB students had the good fortune of participating in a Mock Trial presided over by Judge Lampert from the Province of New Brunswick, Canada. The Trial provided an opportunity for the audience and participants to learn and better appreciate court procedures and the practice of Canadian and Western law, to enhance their speaking and advocacy skills, and to have fun in a cooperative and collaborative task.
Students spent many hours studying details of the assigned case on Shoplifting and Resisting Arrest and applying Canadian Law to help build their respective arguments. Students also had to analyze each witness statement and create suitable questions to better achieve their desired verdict of guilty or not guilty. Students performed very well and many members in the audience were so impressed that they are looking forward to having the opportunity to participate in the Mock Trial next year. Congratulations to all participants!
