Disney's gearing up to celebrate their first Chinese New Year in Shanghai.
Starting on Sat, January 28, Shanghai Disney Resort is presenting new shows, festive food and lucky bag merchandise to kick-off the New Year for park visitors. And with tickets being cheaper now in 'off-peak' months, it's a great time to go!
Disney will be presenting a nightly program called ‘Ignite the Dream: A Nighttime Spectacular of Magic and Light’ that will be followed by a special event to present New Year wishes for visitors. To celebrate the season, there will also be morning drum ceremonies, Mickey and Minnie in themed garb, dragon dances and more running until February 28.
Along with an arrangement of inspirational quotes and wishes that will be projected onto Mickey Mouse-shaped lanterns hung on the Enchanted Storybook Castle, a symphonic tune by famous Chinese musician and composer Tan Dun will be played to support the magical lights.
This holiday’s interactive program will be the first created in the history of all Disney parks around the globe. And speaking of innovation, Shanghai Disney Resort announced an education program which includes universities in the city and in neighboring provinces (Shanghai Sanda University, Shanghai Jianqiao University, Zhengzhou Tourism College in Henan Province and the Tourism College of Zhejiang) to bring in aspiring tourism graduates to join the company.
Shanghai Polytechnic University was one of the first cooperative universities to sign with the resort.
