Workshop: Preparing Students for the Future - MIT - Inspired Learning
Presented by Mr Andrew Lancaster, Head of Secondary and Mr Paul Kelly, Deputy Head of Secondary from The British International School Shanghai. Designed for all school parents and students.
Overview:
Andrew and Paul will discuss how teaching has evolved since the technological evolution in education and explain how a design-thinking approach is transforming learning opportunities for our international community. They will address approaches adopted by staff at BISS Puxi and explain how these help lead BISS students to be independent learners capable of thriving in a technology-rich workplace.
Your hosts:
Andrew Lancaster is Head of Secondary and works tirelessly to deliver on the school's vision to ‘Be Ambitious’ and for pupils to think more, achieve more and be more. Andrew’s role involves transforming this vision into reality for learners and curriculum design forms an important part of this process. Technological changes and the inclusion of design-thinking in the learning approach at BISS will keep pupils up-to-date with the latest IT tools and ensure students develop skills of empathy, collaboration, problem-solving, implementation, evaluation and of course, curiosity.
Paul Kelly has been a teacher at BISS Puxi since August 2011. He is Deputy Head of Secondary oversees pastoral care and was the project manager for the development of the Hamilton Centre, BISS Puxi's new Design Thinking space. Paul has a Masters Degree from Cambridge University and is passionate about developing students.
