Founded in 1932, the London Philharmonic Orchestra now has become a world-renowned orchestra. In addition to its routine international tours, it has also made scores for blockbuster movies and the Olympic games. Vasily Petrenko currently serves as the chief conductor for both the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. His work is so remarkable that he was made a ‘Citizen of Honour’ by the city of Liverpool in 2016. For anyone seeking a time-honored New Year tradition, this one may be the right choice for you.

All Month: The Wanderers - Masterpieces from the State Tretyakov Gallery
Back in 1963, a group of liberal artists left The Imperial Academy of Arts in protest to their strict and conservative rules, and formed their own independent artistic society. Later, they began their touring exhibitions throughout Russia where they became known as ‘The Wanderers’. Unlike the Academy’s demands, The Wanderers placed emphasis on people and the life they led. With the help of the State Tretyakov Gallery, Shanghai Museum is able to showcase their masterpieces which give viewers a better understanding of their glory in art history.
