Summer is here and we should all be outside enjoying the beautiful weather before it gets too hot. Kids need to have some nature experiences and even if you live in Shanghai it is possible to have some outdoorsy fun!
Go to the beach
It may not be a calm, private beach in a natural paradise, but the manmade beaches around shanghai offer a place to feel the sand between your toes and let your kids splash around in the pool. Try the Bund Beach for convenient location.
Go to a park
Shanghai has some great parks with lots of family activities such as horseback riding, paintball, kite flying, fishing, barbecuing and more. Century Park and Gongquing Park are two great options.
Go grape picking at Malu Theme Park
Many of us live in apartment without gardens, which is why taking a stroll and pick refreshing grapes off the vines is a great summer experience. Malu Grape Theme Park offers several different kind of grapes as well as other grape related products.

Go to Zhujiajiao
Between June and August, the lavender flowers are in bloom and you can go and see them at their prime in Zhujiajiao.
Enjoy a smoothie in the sun
It’s difficult to beat the feeling of sipping on a smoothie while strolling around the city or taking a break in one of Shanghai’s many parks and gardens. Lizzie’s All Natural smoothies are super healthy and super refreshing.

Summer Camp
No matter how hard you try to please your kids, it’s almost inevitable that they will get restless from time to time once school is over. Probably the best (and easiest!) solution for this is summer camp. There are plenty of camps in Shanghai with every theme you can imagine and there is a camp that suits every child. See our camp roundup here.
