Construction has officially begun on a new joint campus for Shanghai’s German and French schools. The Eurocampus will open in 2018 and welcome 2000 German and French speaking primary and secondary students.
The new campus represents the second joint venture between the Deutsch Shule Shanghai and Lycee Francais de Shanghai. The two schools have been working together for over 20 years and moved into the first Eurocampus in Qingpu in 2005. Thanks to a growing number of expat children in the city, the schools have outgrown the original Eurocampus. The old campus will continue to welcome students but will change its name to avoid confusion.
The new Eurocampus will be located in Shanghai’s northeastern Yangpu district and is supported by the local district government as well as the national governments of Germany and France. Chairman of the Schoolboard Ralph Koppitz announced that the campus will extend 50,000 square meters, comprising the two separate schools as well as a common area containing a cafeteria, theater, swimming pool and sports hall.
The annual tuition fee will be RMB140,000.
