Located just opposite of Jing’an Temple at the corner of Nanjing Xi Lu and Changshu Lu, Jing’an Park was once the site of the Bubbling Well Cemetery from 1898 until its closure in the early 1950s. In 1953, the municipal government reclaimed the land for redevelopment, and the park opened in 1955. More than 300 species of plants can be found here, making it an urban oasis in the middle of Shanghai’s concrete jungle.
