Co-organized by the New Zealand Consulate-General in Guangzhou, GRT Radio English Service, the Presbyterian Research Center at Knox College and Guangzhou Library, exhibition A Shared History - New Zealand Connections with Old Guangzhou was held at Guangzhou Library last month.
A hundred years ago, the first group of New Zealand missionaries arrived in Guangzhou. For 50 years, they photographed nearly 2,000 pictures to record their work, daily life and Guangzhou’s scenic landscape. On display were 45 photos carefully selected from those 2,000 images, shown in China for the first time. Through the pictures and the free English and Chinese audio tour service, viewers were provided a glimpse into old Guangzhou through the eyes of foreigners living a century ago.
