The onset of food-poisoning symptoms in several kindergarteners began on Tuesday evening after having lunch and by Wednesday, a total of 109 had been hospitalized.
According to chief of the emergency office of the Haikou health department, Long Ying, 69 of the children that were confirmed to have had food poisoning were all in a stable condition by Wednesday morning.
The kindergarten affected has a total of 198 students, all of which were required to seek medical attention he added.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
In March, mass food poisoning at a kindergarten in Yunnan province left two children dead with a further 30 needing hospital treatment.
